Talent
In Sussex, we are very committed to nurturing talent. The purpose of the Excel Pathway is to provide performance-enhancing training for individuals. Competition is delivered outside of the academy programmes in clubs/schools leagues and tournaments. Academies will also provide an opportunity for players to be seen by the Regional Talent Coach, and potentially the opportunity to move up the England Netball player pathway ladder. The girls receive 10 x 2 hours of high quality training from October to March and sessions are led by UKCC qualified coaches that have experience of coaching talented players.
The County Excel Pathway includes two programmes:
Development Academies – this is the first entrance into the Excel Pathway and the focus is on individual development. Athletes will learn how to train and basic technical and tactical skills. The progression from Development Academy is County Academy.
County Academies – the focus is on working with another player. The emphasis remains on training and skill development with competition being used to test and refine skills. The progression from County Academy is Regional Academy.
From September 2010 athlete nominations for Satellite and County Academies trials will only be considered from accredited nominators or scout. To be eligible to nominate you must have attended an England Netball Talent Identification Workshop. For details of the next course please visit the Coach Netball page.
Trials will be held for the U16 County Academy, U14 County Satellite Academy, one U16 Development Academy and one U14 Development Academy .
